First layers of paint...

This morning, I continued working on my self-portrait, using inks and acrylics in the underpainting to build color and layer in abstract texture. I’m creating this piece to reflect a service I offer locally for women: sensual portraits transformed into timeless paintings, designed to be cherished for generations. Throughout art history, the portrait has remained a powerful celebration of real people and their stories—seen in the work of artists like Gustav Klimt, and in films such as Frida and The Woman in Gold.

This next photo shows the early stages of layering oil brushstrokes to define subtle plane shifts. I’m already deeply in love with this piece—it feels like it truly captures my essence at this moment in my life, and I’m excited to continue living with it for years to come.
