Abstract Acrylic and iNKS

I have been exploring creating abstract style paintings which has been a lot of fun for me! In the past, I created a lot of work where everything was defined... so loosening up into abstract art has been challenging and different. I would love to get good at soulful brushstrokes, meaningful art with a powerful voice, and opening up a creative channel beyond the limitations of my own mind.

When I go from an acrylic under-painting to oil paints, my paintings tend to transform style dramatically. But I discovered recently when I start an abstract background with acrylic and ink, and develop it with more acrylic, ink along with inktense pencils with caesien highlights through layers... it brings out a whole new style that is buried deep within me. So its fun to see these images emerge. I love this one of the jaguar/woman face. She is a "shape shifter". I don't know what will come through on the rest of the abstract shapes in the canvas just yet, but am very happy with this part of it at the moment!

Here are some of the abstract backgrounds I have been creating (slideshow)...

And here are some paintings in progress where I am exploring more of an abstract style...

These are all just the beginning, so there will be much more to come, and I will update this post as paintings come though. <3
