Mastery Program

I just signed up for the Mastery Art program with Milan Art Institute and am learning all kinds of new techniques from day one. So I am really excited for this journey to learn all the things I never learned by being a self-taught artist. I have wanted to enroll in an online art school for years... Ive also had my eye on the visionary art academy and more... but I felt like with the Milan Art Institute, I would learn foundational things that aren't targeted towards a certain genre or style but rather learning technique and then finding your own voice.
My past work is often seen as very visionary and psychedelic, but going forward I'm not sure I always want to come off that way. I also want to tap into the depth of the human soul from a very sober and grounded space opening up the the universe, my body, mind and soul with pure will power and living life from good character, virtues and values. If its one thing psychedelics can do, its to show you what is possible... but its not meant to be a party or a crutch in life. I have seen too many people think they are masters but have the maturity and ego of high-school students - its been unimpressive to say the least. What is impressive to me is my direct connection to the experience within psychedelic space while choosing to integrate wisdom with the power of love vs the love of power.
Anyways, back to this new art course. I get to use a lot of their photo references (rather than my own) in the first part of the lessons... but I will also recreate some of the assignments with my own subject choice or photography as well!! In both of the paintings below, I used a reduction method and glazes as well as opaque layers (in the birds). The woman portrait is an under-painting only. Milan Art Institute also does a great job of teaching color theory which is actually mind blowing. I definitely chose the right school for me, and am excited to work my way through the year long program.
Here are a few of the first oil painting assignments that I have completed or am working on...

I will add to this blog as I work my way through assignments over time.
